Cali, located in the Cauca Valley, has the largest industrial area in Colombia and is home to the most important sugar mills. The city is home to both colonial buildings and modern architecture most noticeable from its religious buildings.

Cali’s citizens, calenos, are among Colombia’s friendliest locals – try and persuade them to take you to the authentic salsatecas in the barrio of Juanchito, which can be risky if you go alone. If not, there are salsa clubs dotted along Avenida Sexta, the city’s main street for nightlife.
